Hi,
Our family are thinking of spending Christmas in Venice this year. As a side trip.
Any info would be helpful.
Thanks
Christmas in Venice is pretty quiet and cold.
Don't expect much decorations and such, still you will be able to find places open to eat or drink. There could be a Christmas market in Campo San Stefano and some ice skating in Campo San Polo, still there is no available information yet.
Venice wouldn't be a first choice for Christmas, but since apparently you will be around it will be nice to spend a few days in Venice.
Here is some information i gathered for you:
- CHRISTMAS CONCERT AT ST. MARK'S BASILICA - On 17 and 18 December 2018, starting at 8pm.
- THE SWAN LAKE AT TEATRO GOLDONI - Only on 26 December, at 5pm and 8.30pm
- I Musici Veneziani: 18th century costumed orchestra 27 - 30 December 2018 at Scuola Grande di San Teodoro (Campo San Salvador) – San Marco
I will update here if i find something more ...
I realize that Venice is not the ideal place to be during Christmas, still we will be very near to the city, so i would like to spend a couple of days.
What worries me is we will be able to find something to eat on 26th of December ?
Also how about the museums ? Are they closed during that period ?
I guess Christmas passed and not sure if you went or not to Venice.
Still see this video about Venice during Christmas.
